More space, safer for elderly clients, closer to downtown. These are just a few of the advantages that Eric Montgomery says his new Edward Jones office location at 122 East 8th Street has over his former office location at 120 West 17th Street, York.
The new office location occupies the eastern 2/3 of the building that formerly housed the Offsides Lounge and for those of us that have lived in York a while the location of Midway Bar for many, many years.
“We were limited in space at the old location,” said Montgomery. “This allows us to be fully ADA compliant which is important as we have a number of elderly clients. Also, having the entrance on the 8th Street side means there is a lot less traffic for those same clients than if the entrance was on Lincoln Avenue.”
The newly remodeled space has two offices and a conference room along with a spacious entrance area where his staff greets clients. That staff includes senior branch office administrator Deb Williams and newly hired branch office assistant Angela Loven who keeps order in the office.
Future plans for the building include doing something with the exterior of the building according to Montgomery. That and finding someone to occupy the remainder of the building that opens onto Lincoln Avenue.
Montgomery said that area has about 1,000 square feet of space. He said that he would be open to helping renovate that part of the building to suit whoever ends up renting the space. One advantage the area has is the original tin ceiling which would be exposed after the suspended ceiling is removed.
Hours for the Edward Jones office is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or by appointment. You can reach the office by calling 402-363-0001.

What the heck?
Who calls a foul in a basketball game with one team up by ten points and only 1.4 seconds left on the clock? Me and the missus are involved in a NCAA pool where if you have the last two numbers in the game’s score, you win. I’ve won a couple of times but Linda hadn’t and still hasn’t after last night.
Her numbers are 4 and 4 and Sunday night’s NC State and Duke game was 74-64 and NC State was dribbling out the game. Until some overzealous ref called a foul with a little over a second left and the NC State guy stepped up and made two free throws.
